School Opal Card 2016
As of the start of the 2016 school year, Premier Charters will no longer be issuing School Bus Passes - all eligible students will be sent School Opal Cards.
- The rules have not changed School Opal Card travel is to/from student’s home address and to/from school on school days only.
- School Opal Cards can be used between the hours of 6:30am and 7:00pm.
- For TAFE students the hours are from 6:30am and 9:30pm.
- School Opal Card does not cover travel to after school care, school excursions or other activities away from school.
- Students/parents are to apply on line at transportnsw.info/school-students and all enquiries are to go to Transport for NSW on 131500.
- If a student’s School Opal Card is lost or stolen they are to ring Transport for NSW on 131500 and request a replacement - this will take 5 to 7 days - while waiting for the replacement card the student should use a Child/Youth Opal Card or pay a fare.
- Students not eligible can purchase a term pass – term passes will be a School Opal Card with preloaded travel on it or students can purchase a Child/Youth Opal Card (this is a card they have to put money onto) by calling Opal on 136725.
- Students are to TAP ON at the reader on the bus as they board and TAP OFF at the reader as they alight.
The first batch of Opal Cards will be sent to eligible students who had passes in 2015 – these will be sent to the school in the first 2 to 3 weeks of term.
New students or students entering year 3 or 7 who need to reapply will be sent the card to their home address – approximately 2 to 3 weeks after applying.
